Here are the accounts of some of my walks over the past four years. I have done some shorter walks and some crazy long ones and will keep going as long as I am fit enough.
Slow Ways
I first read about the Slow Ways initiative in the Guardian Newspaper back in 2020. You can check out their website here and read about how I started here.
Records of my Slow Ways walks can be found here
Hadrian’s Wall
It was one thousand and nine hundred years since the Romans started building Hadrian’s Wall in 2022. I decided I would try and walk the complete length of the wall in stages. I only got half way that year and still haven’t finished!
Records of my walks along the line of the wall and other sites can be found here.
St. Cuthbert’s Way
Following on from my backpacking practice along Hadrian’s Wall I attempted the 100km of this National Trail from Melrose to Holy Island. Read about my experience here.
Camino de Santiago
Having almost achieved a 100km walk in 2023 I decided to tackle the 800km of the Camino Frances. This is an historic pilgrim route from Saint Jean Pied-de-Port in France to the Shrine of St James at the cathedral in Santiago de Compostella in Spain. Read about my journey here.
London to Gateshead
As if one long walk wasn’t enough I came back from Spain and began to make plans for a sponsored walk in aid of Oasis Community Housing. I walked 618km from Peckham in south London to Gateshead. Read about how I got on here.
What’s next?
I hop to walk from Iona to Holy Island in the autumn of 2025. Watch this space!
